It's understandable that iRacing Studios wanted to play it safe with NASCAR 25 to eliminate any possible issues with racing, but they erred too much on the side of caution. The updated Career Mode is nice, but the lack of any online championship and really anything new online is disheartening. The changes to the racing aren't as major as one would think, but it still remains solid against the AI. Just...
RuneScape: Dragonwilds strikes a respectable balance between a fantasy RPG and survival crafting game, but could use a better balance between fun and tedium.
Gears of War: E-Day can be placed on two sides of a coin. On one side, the campaign is lackluster and fails to create a meaningful, lasting impression. On the other side of the coin, the multiplayer, both PvP and PvE, are some of the best you can get within the third-person shooter space. Horde mode feels perfectly refined for what The Coalition built, and PvP remains highly satisfying, especially...
Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival is an honest attempt to create a solid survival horror game set in the Hellraiser universe. The story is impressive while also being canon in the series. The Labyrinth is unique and helps deviate from a progressively mundane survival horror experience. The game starts out insane, but begins to fall off more and more. Performance-wise, the game struggles, but performance...
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is an extensive addition to Capcom’s action RPG experience, significantly expanding what was already an immense experience. Norgan and the new trials in the dungeons are impressive in how they bring not only new challenges, but also rewards that build on top of the base game with new systems. The end result is a great expansion that makes it worth digging through Dragon’s...
Forever Ago is a journey that showcases a complex subject, and it’s great to see more games discussing those heavy topics. Even so, the journey here feels subpar in its exploration of the subject, not digging far enough to convey Alfred’s inner journey in a more personal angle. The end result is shallow, but it will probably still find an audience that empathizes with the circumstances it presents.
Order of the Sinking Star is one of the most fascinating games we’ve played all year. It’s simple but challenging, always keeping the puzzles compelling while implementing new or adaptive mechanics throughout. It does suffer from story woes, and some of the puzzles can be frustrating at times, but still, Order of the Sinking Star remains something for the mind. It’s brilliantly put together, taking...
Gears of War: E-Day innovates in all the right ways while keeping the core and heart of the franchise intact, stamping the series’ return with one of, if not its best, entries to date.
The Phantom Menace made it clear that racing belongs in Star Wars. It's unfortunate that it's taken nearly two decades to get another racing game set in the galaxy far, far away, but Fuse Games has made things right. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is the fast and furious racer Star Wars has long deserved. It's stuffed full of fun content, whether you want to hop into fun Scenarios, participate in some quick...
Dune: Awakening succeeds in making players feel like everyone is out to get them, all while encouraging you to rise to the occasion and come out the other end stronger.
NBA 2K27 aptly builds upon features in prior entries, even when parts of that foundation are less sturdy.
